    Mevagissey

The Cottage is within a short car/bus ride of Heligan Gardens (or a very pleasant walk for the fit and healthy).

The Eden project is 15-20 minutes drive away and a range of beautiful gardens (including Pine Lodge, Lanhydrock and Tregrehan) are within easy reach.

The Fowey ferry runs a scheduled service 7 days per week from the quay opposite the cottage (weather permitting).

Mevagissey has a range of good pubs and restaurants.

Mevagissey boasts a very fine beach although it is reached from a very long, steep set of steps (only for the fit and healthy)

It has a newsagents/store, Post Office and a range of shops offering gifts.  St Austell ( 5/10 min drive away) has a range of supermarkets (ASDA, TESCO, Lidl, Aldi) and a relatively new town centre (TK Maxx, Wilkinsons) also has an Eden cafe and coffee shops.

Truro with its beautiful cathedral is about 14 miles away and, of course, there are many beaches and villages to explore.  Bodmin with its adjacent moor is about 13 miles away.

Once the centre of Cornwall's pilchard fishery, Mevagissey continues to support several dozen small fishing boats which provide colour and bustle to the attractive harbour.

If drinking in the atmosphere on the harbour-side is not enough for you, Mevagissey offers an  excellent museum, an aquarium displaying locally caught fish, a fine model railway exhibition, art galleries, shops, pubs, restaurants and, of course, fish and chips!

The coastal footpath offers some lovely walks but is fairly steep in places.
